Quote of the day
“Although going between established levels of skill is important, it is when one learns to do something that nobody else can do that learning becomes truly valuable.”

Part 3 of my takeaways after reading Paul Graham
On Startup Ideas
“If you make a conscious effort to think of startup ideas, the ideas you come up with will not merely be bad, but bad and plausible-sounding, meaning you’ll waste a lot of time on them before realizing they’re bad.”
If by social means an idea comes to your footstep, its gone through a selective process, of varying rigor, meaning it will probably sound good or plausible sounding, regardless of if it really is.
“The best startups almost have to start as side projects, because great ideas tend to be such outliers that your conscious mind would reject them as ideas for companies.”
This of course is not necessarily the case.
“Ok, so how do you turn your mind into the type that startup ideas form unconsciously? (1) Learn a lot about things that matter, then (2) work on problems that interest you (3) with people you like and respect.”

Disclaimer: The startup ideas shared in this forum are offered for general consideration and discussion. Individuals utilizing these concepts are encouraged to exercise independent judgment and undertake due diligence per legal and regulatory requirements.
Are these ideas good? Not necessarily. We just non-rigorously curated those we think looked interesting. (Most of them are quite broad, so there are probably good ideas to be thought of within each domain.)
The fact that that an idea was clicked on more is not necessarily a proxy for it being a better idea. In fact, it might be a negative signal, though we wouldn’t want to claim that is the case either.
We calculated the popularity of the idea based on the relative click rate compared to the other two ideas shared in any given edition. There have been 6 editions, meaning 18 ideas, so the sample size isn’t large by any means.
That’s all for today, thank you for reading and we wish you a happy new year.
